The build
A straw-panel storey weighs a fraction of a masonry one. That is the quiet advantage in an addition: the load the existing structure has to carry is small enough that foundations, in many cases, are left alone.
Panels arrive numbered and pre-cut for the new openings, including the angles where the addition meets the original roof. A small crew makes the new storey weathertight in days rather than weeks, which matters a great deal when the floor below is still lived in.
