The build
Panels for a gable are cut to the pitch in the factory, in millimetre increments, and craned into place already carrying their openings. There is no site-cut infill under the ridge and no thermal bridge where the wall meets the roof — the compressed straw runs continuously from the slab to the apex.
The exterior is closed with a vapour-permeable membrane over wood-fibre board and finished in lime render; the interior is clay plaster, left to do its own humidity regulation. Rooftop photovoltaics on the south pitch carry the house past net-positive across the year.
